A Study On The Belief Of The City God Of Hsinchu

The belief of City God plays an important role in Chinese folk beliefs.Based on the research methods of religion,anthropology and history,this paper takes Town God's Temple,a typical Hsinchu city in Fujian and Taiwan as the research object,and tries to show the formation and development of Hsinchu City God belief,trying to reveal its cultural connotation and historical significance.In the course of the study,historical and realistic investigations are carried out,and field investigations are carried out in depth.And in this process,sort out all kinds of documents,County chronicles and other historical materials,seriously study the relevant academic works,papers.This paper makes an in-depth analysis of the relationship between the state,the place,the sacred and the secular in the perspective of the belief of Chenghuang,so as to show the influence of the local social politics,economy and culture,as well as the people's ideology,values and lifestyle,and to reflect the belief of Chenghuang in modern society,and the economic,cultural and social customs of Xinzhu City and even Taiwan.This paper discusses the following parts: the origin and belief of city gods,visual symbols,sacrificial space and external space,sacrificial ritual activities,the relationship between the state and local,and the value of City God belief to real life.The introduction mainly introduces the significance of the thesis,the contents and methods of the research,reviews the academic history and explains the research methods adopted.The first chapter mainly introduces the origin of the City God,the general situation of belief and the special status of Hsinchu City God from the historical point of view.The second chapter mainly introduces the general situation of Town God's Temple as a sacrificial space,and analyzes the setting of gods in Town God's Temple;the third chapter is about the development of the City God.Taking the sacrificial activities of the Central Yuan Dynasty as an example,this paper explores the relationship between the belief of the city god of Hsinchu and the life of the citizens.
