under the influence of Confucianism and Taoism,the ancient Chinese literary theory always emphasize the Essence of Literature and despise the Form of Articles Under the influence of Confucianism,the ancient Chinese literary theory attach great importance to the moralization function of poetry,which required the content of the text to express the doctrine.Therefore,literature is regarded as a tool for expressing Tao and reason.In pre-qin times,Taoism’s tendency to emphasize nature and neglect form and it was reflected in the ideological level of respecting nature and denying human beings.Corresponding to this philosophical thought,Taoism’s literary concept always takes nature as its standard,and holds that literature should be in accordance with nature,that is taking plain and nature as the principles of beauty and rejecting artificial carving.So Confucianism and Taoism both didn’t pay attention to the value of form itself and in theory,they restrain form,but the abstract ideological of literature and art must be with the help of a specific form of art to reflect,and ancient Chinese in the creation practice shows strong with the characteristics of the form as the standard,make "literature" presents an "absence" of the state."Present" aims to show that the ancient Chinese always paid attention to the problem of "artical"(formal skills,carving rules and sentences,structure and layout,etc.)in the practice of literary creation,and even attached great importance to and pursued "artical" to an unbeatable extent."Absence" aims to emphasize that the Chinese ancient literary theory generally shows the tradition of attaching importance to ideological content and ignoring and opposing formalism in its theoretical form."Paradoxical situation" refers to the contradiction between writing practice and theory.This paper will make a preliminary analysis of the manifestation of this contradiction and its causes and The author hope more scholars will explore this issue in depth.
