Research On The Art Characteristics Of Hebei Yuzhou Shadow Play

Yuzhou Shadow Play,as a great combination of unique artistic features and folklore cultural connotations,well represents the shadow plays originated from Hebei Province,northern China.Nowadays,most of the research on shadow plays conducted by scholars from home and abroad focus on the more famous genres of shadow plays,whereas the studies of Yuzhou Shadow Play remain superficial,without much theoretical combing and derivation.Gradually,there is a lack of relevant data information and theoretical summary.Therefore,the author of this article has conducted a practical research on local performers through following the Yuzhou Shadow Play Troupe,shooting their performance and interviewing Yang Quanlai,the third generation of heirs of Yuzhou Shadow Play and Wang Yu and Wang Hong,the fourth generation of heirs.By learning about how to make the characters of shadow plays andhow to control them to better understand the production skill,modeling characteristics and performance methods of Yuzhou Shadow Play.This article,based on the previous scholars' research,will make a comparative and systematic theoretical combing of Yuzhou Shadow Play from the perspectives of art,folk custom anthropology using the academic methods of literature analysis,field investigation,comparative research,case analysis and so on.This article contains five chapters with the first chapter introducing the historical origin and development process of Yuzhou Shadow Play;The second chapter “the gift situation of the survival and development of Yuzhou Shadow Play” is the field investigation conducted by the author,which is mainly from two aspects of inheritance pedigree and audience questionnaire analysis.The third chapter focuses on the interpretation of the artistic characteristics and the connotation of folk culture of Yuzhou Shadow Play studying from the performance form of art,modeling art characteristics,Yuxian folk culture and its interaction with other folk art of Yuxian and thus concludes that the reason why Yuzhou Shadow Play is popular in the northern Hebei region is closely related to the local folk art,traditional customsand religious culture;The fourth chapter will compare Yuzhou Shadow Play with Jidong Zhongzhou Shadow Play and Shanxi Fuping Palace Shadow Play,which are two outstanding Chinese shadow plays.The fifth chapter is a study on the development of inheritance;The author brings up the innovation and thinking about the transformation from "heritage" to "resource" based on the predicament of the development of Yuzhou Shadow Play to inspire the exploration of diversified development ways.Yuzhou Shadow Play has important research value in the study of Chinese traditional culture,such as the film of Folk art,the development of folk opera art,the change of popular aesthetic interest under different historical background in China,the aesthetic value of dialects in folk art,and the exploration of the Inheritance and development path of film intangible cultural heritage.Hope that through this article,can make more people know Yuzhou Shadow Play,together for the development of Yuzhou Shadow Play to do their own strength.
