In English,there is the direct linkage between meaningful utterances and vocabularies or phrases by grammatical rule,which also plays a decisive role in helping students write and communicate in English fluently and accurately.Therefore,English teachers of junior high schools have paid substantial attention to grammar teaching and adopted various methods in their teaching to improve the effects of English grammar teaching for a long time.Long(1985)puts forward that Task-Based Language Teaching(TBLT)is a pedagogy in which students are required to complete effective language tasks in target language in the actual language environment.In recent years,there are more and more researches on TBLT,but regrettably,few of them are empirical.Therefore,this thesis tries to investigate the present situation of English grammar teaching of junior high school and then find out whether the application of TBLT in English grammar teaching can improve English grammar learning effects of junior high school students or not.The research subjects are students in two classes from Grade 7 of Guiyang No.40 Middle School.One of these two classes is the experimental class(EC),the other is the controlled class(CC).In the first week of the experiment,the author carries out the pre-test.As a result,the pre-test results indicate that the average level of English grammar achievements is quite closer between the EC and the CC.Meanwhile,the pre-questionnaire is used to investigate the present conditions of English grammar learning of junior high school students.According to the pre-questionnaire results,many students are lack of the interest in English grammar learning.The author applies TBLT in the EC,while 3P method is applied in the CC from the second week to the fifteenth week.In the sixteenth week,the post-test paper is handed out to the research subjects.As a result,students in the EC exhibit greater progress in the post-test than students in the CC.Furthermore,the author hands out the post-questionnaire to all the research subjects to show their opinions and ideas towards the application of TBLT in English grammar teaching of junior high school.Through the comparison between pre-test and post-test,the author finds that the achievements of English grammar in the EC is improved after the application of TBLT in English grammar teaching.Moreover,based on the findings of questionnaire,the author finds that students in the EC like TBLT very much,for it arouses both their interest and their confidence in learning English grammar.
