The Shaping Of The "New Period Literature"

To understand Chinese contemporary literature,especially the "New period literature" after 1976,the literature conference is a unique window.The opinions of cultural officials and literary critics,discussions on controversial works,and discussions on controversial issues are all pretended in literary conferences.Historical facts with arguing,this paper will try to clarify the important historical origin phase of "New period literature" important conferences,mainly around some literature conferences after smashing "Gang of Four",Three times in three enlarged meeting in literacy and Art Association,Chinese literature and art workers fourth congress,Screenwriting seminars and so on for Clues,showing the shaping process of the original stage of the "New period literature".The first chapter of the paper will combine the existing historical data,combing the "Prelude" of the Fourth literary congress.Beginning in 1976,the "17 years" literature and art cadres return,by organizing,participated in several literary meetings of 1977 to 1979,including People’s Literature editorial organization’s "Short story symposium",to Fire the "Dictatorship of the Black Line" of literary workers symposium in Beijing and Literary three-time three enlarged meeting and other conferences,they returned to the literary world.By taking short stories as the breakthrough point,the editorial department of People’s Literature tries to play a pivotal role in literature production.The old people of the reunited literary circle also began to criticize the theory of the "Dictatorship of the Black Line" through the form of the conference.In 1978,the three sessions of the federation expanded to take over the results of the previous meetings,after which the federation and the associations were established.The personnel changes and meetings in the past three years have gradually expanded the literary scene in the new era.Returning from the "17 years",literary and art cadres are gradually making their voices heard,seeking consensus and devoting themselves to the literary arena at the end of the 1970 s,which also laid the foundation for the successful convening of the Fourth literary congress in 1979.Starting from the second chapter,the paper tries to present the process of the Fourth literary congress.In the past three years,literary and art cadres gathered together joined the planning and organization of the conference in different capacities.They cooperated with senior officials of the central committee to promote the conference,and obtained the official status of leader of the literary world at the conference.On the basis of mastering the historical materials scattered in newspapers,magazines,memoirs and internal documents of the Fourth literary congress as much as possible,this paper presents the subtle choices and complex features of the Fourth literary congress by analyzing the personnel selection of the participants,the status of the absentees and the debates at the session.As an important document at the Fourth literary congress,the Zhou Yang’s report reflects to the greatest extent the theme and will of the Fourth literary congress.In the process of its formation,the report has been discussed and revised by many people,and discussed several controversial issues and controversial works,presenting the generative logic of the "New period literature" in this stage.A close reading of the final draft’s statements on several controversial issues shows how the "New period literature" was given a legal framework,how literature responds to the "17 Years" literature,the "First three years" literature,and the relationship between literature and politics.The third chapter of the paper assignments will be discussing around the Screenwriting seminar in 1980.The literary world of leadership determined by the Fourth literary congress,had leading the meeting’s planning process,therefore,to some extent,the Screenwriting seminar was a continuation of the Fourth literacy congress.The Screenwriting seminar reopened the discussion of the difficult problems.The purpose of the Screenwriting seminar was to focus on three controversial works: In the Archives of Society,If I am True,and The Female Thief.The meeting attempted to seek the interpretation framework of these three works,seek the Consensus of literary and artistic views.But this seminar finally pointed the discussion to how literature serves the "Modernization" construction.Some phenomenon happened after this seminar,showing the "Scar Literature" in this stage had been divided.A different part,or called the "Scar Literature of Anti-Scar Literature",had gradually disappeared in the shaping process of the New Period Literature.
