English writing can reflect not only the learners' abilities to express their logics,but also their overall abilities to use language.The new curriculum standards for Senior High School states that English writing shows the comprehensive ability of the students,which asks students to have a solid language base.However,in general,there is a certain gap between the actual situation of the senior high school students' English writing ability and the requirements of the new curriculum standards.In English writing,most of the students have many problems in different aspects,which obviously show that their writing ability is actually behind several other skills.What's worse,these problems will hinder their further study in English,and the existence of these problems will have a negative impact on their interest and confidence in learning English.Therefore,how to improve English learners' writing ability has become the focus and difficulty of the current research.On the basis of Krashen's input theory and Swain's output theory,this essay deals with the application of guided wring in English teaching.The practice lasts a whole semester,and two classes totally about 100 students in Grade two are chosen.Class1 adopts the guided writing and Class2 adopts traditional teaching approach.In spite of the regular teaching,there are a lot of recitation exercises in Class1 before and after the classes and related guidance are given before and after the recitation.Through case study,pre-test and post-test in the Class1,and the pre-test and post-test of the two classes,together with an interview in Class1,the study mainly explores and discusses the function and effects of guided writing in English for senior high school,by doing research,test,and investigation,and it finally aims to deal with the following three problems:1.What are the problems in the application of guided writing in English for Senior High School students?2.What are the reasons that lead to the problems in the application of guided writing?3.How to deal with the problems in the application of guided writing?From the exploration in the theory and tests in practice,it shows that most students show a positive attitude to guided writing and it is obvious that guided writing can improve students writing ability effectively in words spelling,grammar,conjunctive words and the whole structure of a writing,which can provide a secure base for students' lasting development of language competence.Therefore,guided writing can be used as an important method in English teaching.At last,the author gives some suggestions on the teaching of English writing.Because of the short time,small samples and personal factors,there are still some shortcomings and limitations in the study.
