Vocabulary plays an increasingly important role in English language acquisition.According to the study of predecessors,accumulation of vocabulary has a great influence on second language acquisition,and it also has an important effect on the ability of foreign language learners.However,students are not able to apply the ways of learning vocabulary correctly,for example,rote learning,copying English vocabulary etc.And English teachers are still not paying enough attention to the use of vocabulary learning strategies in teaching.Meanwhile,students have low self-confidence for English vocabulary learning.Therefore,it is a big headache for students to learn English vocabulary.Based on the Adaptive Control of Thought and Social Learning Theory,this study combines the results of predecessors studying to explore the overall situation of junior high school students' English learning self-efficiency,the overall situation of students' English vocabulary learning strategies,and the correlation between English learning self-efficacy and vocabulary learning strategies.In this study,the questionnaires are used as a research tool,and 180 students who are from the three grades in Gaoxin No.1 Middle School Yulin City are selected.The collected data is analyzed by SPSS17.0.Finally,the writer comes up with the results of the research:(1)the English learning self-efficacy of junior high school students is at a medium level.And there are significant differences among the grades;(2)the overall English learning self-efficacy of boys is higher than that of girls,but there are no significant differences;(3)there is at the upper-middle level for junior high school students to use English vocabulary learning strategies,but there exists higher significance between the grade 7 and grade 9 students;(4)there are gender differences in the use of vocabulary learning strategies,but there is no significance;(5)there are significantly positive correlations between vocabulary learning strategies and the dimensions of English learning self-efficacy.There exist significant correlations between the dimensions of English learning self-efficacy and the dimensions of vocabulary learning strategies.In short,the overall English learning self-efficacy of junior high school students is positively correlated with English vocabulary learning strategies.
