A Practice Report On The E-C Translation Of Sci-Tech Products Instructions Under The Guidance Of Functional Equivalence Theory

With the economic globalization advancing continuously,more and more sci-tech products are pouring into the Chinese market.In particular,a large number of medical device companies are actively seeking cooperation with China.To a certain extent,this has also promoted the development of medical industry in China.In addition to the excellent quality of the medical device,the quality of the instructions translation has a great influence on purchase willingness and life safety of users.The introduction and use of imported medical devices are important indicators to measure the degree of modernization of hospitals.The accuracy and standardization of the product instructions translation directly affect the effect and practicability of medical devices in clinical use.The author selected the Medical Device Instructions of Compaey A as the source text,conducted translation practice under the guidance of Nida's functional equivalence theory and demonstrated the feasibility of the theory.In this report,the author first describes the translation task from the background,significance and purpose;then analyzes the source text and describes the translation process:pre-preparation,mid-term review and post-feedback;consequently summarizes functional equivalence theory and expounds its application in the translation of medical device instructions.The author combines functional equivalence theory and translation skills to analyze the professional terms,noun phrases,compound sentences and passive sentences in medical device instruction from three levels of lexical,syntax and discourse.Finally,the author summarizes the translation experience.According to the translation practice research,the author deeply understands the practical guiding significance of functional equivalence theory on the translation of medical device instructions.Functional equivalence theory emphasizes the relationship between the author and the reader,which not only ensures the complete meaning of the expression,but also ensures that the reader can fully understand the meaning of the source text.Through summarizing the translating experience,the author hopes to continuously improve translation level,and provide some reference for the translation of medical device instructions.
