A Poetry Research Of "Two Liu In Xinyu" In The Northern Song Dynasty

Liu Chang and Liu Ban two brothers,born in a town called Xinyu of Jiangxi province,talented and knowledgeable,were quite prestigious poets and scholars in the middle of the Northern Song Dynasty,and were known as “Two Liu in Xinyu”.Liu Chang was good at studying the Confucian Classics and Liu Ban was good at historiography.In addition,they were famous as poets and had achieved remarkable achievements in the field of literature such as poetry and prose.Under the joint influence of the two brothers' poetry and literature,"Mo Zhuang Liu'family" became one of the famous cultural families in the Song Dynasty.Accepting the common family culture,"Two Liu" form a life thought of Confucianism and Taoism.And they had wide range of friends,having different degrees of contact with Ouyang Xiu,Mei Yaochen,Su Shi,Wang Anshi and other literary giants.These all had important impacts on their poetry creation,and make poems of the "Two Liu" presenting a similar and different appearance,mainly reflected in the three aspects of subject matter,creative techniques and poetry style.In subject matter,the content of their poems was rich and diverse.It not only paid attention to the politics of the people,but also the rational thinking about history.It not only expressed the hardships of the traveler and the farewell to the relatives and friends,but also has a certain number of poems of paintings and chanting things.In the same subject matter,"Two Liu" showed the same and different microscopic performance due to different situations of life and personal thoughts.In creative techniques,apart from the common use of Song poetry,for example,literary quotation and liking to discuss,poems of the "Two Liu" were characterized by individuality.They adopted Fu and stacking techniques to try to spread the slogan;and inspired by the enlightenment and influence of the Confucian Classics,they learned more from the works of the Book of Songs to make words,sentences and layout.In poetry style,their words presented a common style of bold and unrestrained,fresh and natural,interesting and smooth.However,differences inacademics and personality had led to significant differences in part of their poems,for example,the difference between the thought of Confucian Classics and the consciousness of the historian,making the poetries covering the flavor of their respective academic fields;a comparison between implicit and humor,reflecting the vivid projection of personal character.
