Interpretation is a comprehensive and complex cognitive activity.Interpreting process research is one of the important areas involved in the study of contemporary interpretation theory. However, the study of the specific details of interpretation has not been fully developed. It still needs further exploration. The interpretation process can be divided into three major blocks: information input, information storage and information output. The Listening Comprehension(abbreviated into LC)begins to operate from the beginning of information input.LC is the premise and basis of the entire interpreting communication.LC in interpretation is the first step and a key step in the process of interpreting. Therefore,it is necessary to study LC and Interpretation Quality(abbreviated into IQ).This thesis studies the correlation between LC and IQ in E-C Consecutive Interpretation(abbreviated into CI).The research objects are the student interpreters of university. My chosen research approach is empirical research. This thesis adopts the combination of quantitative analysis and qualitative analysis. It combines cognitive psychology to provide a new perspective on interpretation research. This study is based on the related literature review at home and abroad. The author puts forward a research question: What is the relationship between the LC and IQ of E-C CI? Next, the author subdivides the quality of interpretation, and then the three evaluation parameters of IQ,“fluency, integrity and accuracy”,are discussed and verified. In order to address the research question in this research, the author uses the test method and the experimental method to collect data, conducting an empirical study on the correlation between LC and IQ of the student interpreters. The author selected 16 student interpreters as the research subjects through random sampling in Excel. They are the second-year postgraduates who majored in English interpretation in Inner Mongolia University. Moreover, all of them have passed the professional interpreting training for one year. The experimental site is a language lab with experimentalconditions. After the sample of the recorded speech is collected, each sample data is sorted. The author inputs experimental data into SPSS 23 for correlation analysis. This is powerful statistical analysis software which uses the experimental results to illustrate the fact, which is scientific. In the next step, the author analyzes and discusses the experimental results from“fluency, accuracy, integrity”combined with cognitive psychology,in order to obtain comprehensive and accurate research results. The findings of this research results indicates that in the E-C CI,LC of student interpreters has a strong correlation with IQ.According to the three evaluation parameters of IQ,LC is highly correlated with the fluency of interpretation.LC is moderately correlated with the accuracy of interpretation.LC is moderately related to the integrity of the interpretation. In addition, student interpreters are good at listening to the standard sound in interpretation. The LC of the accented text is the difficulty of information processing in the process of LC for student interpreters. The improvement of LC is in favor of improving the fluency, accuracy and information integrity of IQ for student interpreters. Finally, the author hopes that the research findings of this thesis can be used for reference in the study of LC of interpretation, and further improving the overall quality of interpretation.Throughout the whole research process, the author makes some suggestions on improving the ability of LC and IQ by means of the research achievements of cognitive psychology. Therefore,we can say that this thesis has practical guiding significance.
