TV interpreting,as one of interpreting categories, has a very short history of 60 years. In China, although TV interpreting is a new emerging industry which made its debut about 15 years ago,it develops rapidly especially in TV live show.As a result, experts and scholars have concerned about it and devoted to build a thorough TV interpreting system.TV interpreters have extremely heavy pressures since they face more audiences and difficulties. However, since the principle of syntactic linearity keeps word order and focuses more on fidelity and speed,it can relieve interpreters' stress and improve the quality of interpreting. The principle of syntactic linearity which widely used in SI has significant reference value for TV interpreting. This report explores the application of the principle of syntactic linearity based on the case study of BBC Reith Lecture “Stephen Hawking's Lecture” to enhance the writer's interpreting skill. This report hopes to be a source of reference for other TV interpreters.
