With the development of plastic surgery,The number of people that participate in shaping practice increased year by year.While the phenomenon of men Plastic also becomes significant,especially in the gay mens community.The study would use qualitative research of participant-observation and indepth interview to engage the research,through the participatory observation on gay plastic group,attempts from the group communication and cognition behavior of gay to explain the reason of gay mens plastic and cosmetic procedure.This paper from Leon Festinger's cognitive dissonance theory perspective,answering the question of how group communication affects individual plastic cognition in the process of cosmetic surgery.In cognitive aspect,the male members of the gay community how to produce plastic demand,this demand how to transform into plastic behavior step by step,which urges gay individuals eventually embark on the road of plastic.This article consists of six chapters.The first chapter is an introduction including the Plastic surgery research reviewe,the object of this paper,methods and framework.In the second chapter,we analyze the structure of the male homosexual online group members on their appearance and how they have the demand for plastic surgery.The third chapter is the analysis of individual when in generating demand for plastic surgery and the cosmetic decision,whether produce new cognitive dissonance.In the face of this block shaping of cognitive conflict,if the individual give up the plastic or not,what they will do in face of this confliction.The fourth chapter analysis what the online population play a role in individual plastic process.Basically,the individual having plastic demand before joining a group,how the online cosmetic group to encourage them firmly agree with plastic decision,ease for cognitive dissonance that shaping by plastic demand.In the fifth chapter,Describes the interactive communications between the group and the individual,which is how to guide the individual in the group to practice shapingThe study found that the gay mens cognitive diessonance of morphology produce the demand for plastic surgery.Ideal group,the role of the group,and the popular aesthetic culture and the social interaction are caused the gay mens cognitive dissonance of morphology,the disorder makes them have a shaping ideas and decisions,change their appearance,in order to alleviate cognitive disorders.The gay mens did not immediately go to the practice of shaping,they also faces a series of new cognitive dissonance after produce plastic decided,the disorder was conflict factors that holding them to continue the practice of shaping,individual in the contradictions and conflicts,attempting to go against,to escape the plastic decision.But in the study,all the gay individuals struggle was failed,as long as they produce plastic demand,groups and commercial power will make them to internalize and accept plastic rational decisions step by step,and ultimately on the plastic surgery practice road.
