An Analysis Of Some Arguments On Dialectical Materialism

Since 1980s,in the field of Marxist philosophy,there have been many scholars questioned the Dialectical Materialism in China.Some scholars even hold the opposite opinions against Dialectical Materialism.It seems that Dialectical Materialism is in a complicated and embarrassing situation.Some of the opposition think Dialectical Materialism is the assembly of the slices and a simple involution that Soviet textbooks have towards the Old materialism;it is a departure of Marxism by Stalin system,and it cannot reflect the transformation of Marx's philosophy;some of them think that Marx himself from the beginning did not put forward the concept Dialectical Materialism.Although Marx had a rich thought about dialectics,the significance only exists in the methodology,rather than the worldview.Others think that Dialectical Materialism neglects people's practical activities and people's power of agency.It cannot fundamentally reflect the philosophical revolution of Marxism,nor the essence of Marx's philosophy.In this paper,the author has discussed and analyzed the three opinions from the perspective of text and history:Firstly,the author discussed the opinion that "Dialectical Materialism is the textbook system".First of all,basing on the clarifying of the evolution history of the textbook system,the author made objective and rational evaluation and analysis,and the author affirmed its reasonable factors beyond its historical and theoretical limitation.It must be mentioned that both the Soviet textbook system and the present Chinese Marx philosophy textbook system are the products of history.Because of its diversity of forms,complexity of the time,the implement of the carriers and the present characteristics of theories and practice,the textbook system can not reflect the full picture of Dialectical Materialism,which,to some degree,leads to the distortion and disjoint of the theoretical background,development process and the logic of Dialectical Materialism.So the Dialectical Materialism can not be identical to the textbook system.Besides,it is biased to accuse that the Dialectical Materialism is slice assembly of the old Materialism ignoring the historical background and the practice demand.Secondly,the author discussed the opinion that the Historical Materialism can take the place of the Dialectical Materialism.In the process of formation and development of Historical Materialism,Marx and Engels has always stressed that the priority for the external nature of production practice,the world outlook of Dialectical Materialism is the logical implication in the forming process of materialist view of history.Because of the different forms of work division,Dialectical Materialism is just appeared in some of the works by Marx.Although Marx had apply the Dialectical Materialism to the history view,he did not develop it into a mature system.Later,in order to apply the Dialectical Materialism to the Materialist natural view,the Dialectical Materialism ideological system has been gradually formed in the books Anti-Duhring and Dialectics of Nature by Engels.Therefore,from the guiding significance of worldview,Dialectical Materialism worldview is the premise and basis of the produce of the scientific Marxist history view.Thirdly,the author discussed the opinion that the Practical Materialism can replace the Dialectical Materialism.When we trace back to the ideological development of the concept "Practical Materialism" in classical texts,it is easy to find that it is a specific concept in the development of Marx communist ideology.It was put forward to criticize Feuerbach's theories,and it was intended to emphasize the practical significance of communism.So the Practical Materialism is not Marx's whole philosophical thought.At the same time,the Practical Materialism adhere to the"practical ontology" because it is difficult to form a unified position,and the text is not adequate,it is difficult to set up the "practice ontology" and this kind of "practice ontology" is essentially embodied as practical idealism.Dialectical Materialism pays attention to the position of practice in the whole Marx philosophy,but opposes the subjective and idealistic exaggeration of practice,and opposes the "practice" directly rising to the absolute height of Marx philosophy.The Dialectical Materialism is not outdated both theoretically and practically.It is a scientific theory which has been continuous improved and developed by different generations of Marx doctrine in the long-term practice history.It is the guiding ideology for our party and country to insist on for a long time in revolution,reform and development.Facing the new situation,especially the new challenges brought by a variety of new ideas and new theories,as well as the new practical needs of the new social,we must hold the bottom line,on which we cannot bias and waver.At the same time,under the impact of the increasingly complexity of the social practice and the powerful impact of other theories,we must enrich and develop the Dialectical Materialism on the basis of the current theory and practice.
