Human' s access to industrial society is undoubtedly the embodiment of progress and development,however,everything has two sides,industrial society is no exception.Horkheimer,with his keen insight,reveals the unity and coercion of industrial society in mass culture and ideology,and criticizes the shackles of human society as well as the freedom of mankind.The development of science and technology and the improvement of knowledge level are bound to drive away ignorance,make up the ignorance,correct the wrong,in short,to promote people' s enlightenment.Horkheimer' s exposition of enlightenment,to a certain extent,expands people' s understanding of the enlightenment and thinking,which has a positive significance to grasp the nature of enlightenment and enlightenment of the future direction of development for us.He advocated religious tolerance and understanding,he pursuited religion,love,tolerance and friendship,and criticized the extremism,killing and aggression,he also criticized blind religious fanaticism and personal worship.These claims are undoubtedly positive for the maintenance of freedom of religious belief.His ethic not only enriches our understanding of moral essence,but also has some guiding significance to family ethics practice.He argues that morality can not be regarded as a tool of domination and fooling the people,and can not instill in the ideology of the masses,and morality should be a freedom in the mind of the individual.In addition,he has also considered the status of families in industrial society and the responsibilities that family members should bear,emphasizing the indispensable role of women or mothersThe first chapter expounds the purpose.and significance of this topic,and studies the present situation.The second chapter introduces the background of Horkheimer' s personal profile and its philosophical thought.The third chapter expounds Horkheimer's critical theory,focusing on social critical theory and instrumental rational critical theory.The fourth chapter expounds Horkheimer' s theory of enlightenment,focusing on the self-reflection of enlightenment and the real dilemma of contemporary enlightenment.Chapter five describes Horkheimer ' s view of religion and ethics.Chapter six will explore the limitations and valuesof Horkheimer' s philosophy from both positive and negative aspects.Chapter seven combs and summarizes the findings.
