The Research On Georg G.Iggers' Historical Thoughts

Professor Georg G.Iggers is a German American who enjoys worldwide fame as a great master of historiography.His thought of historiography is unique in the western historiography,and it also has a profound influence on the field of current Chinese historiography.This paper attempts to make a comprehensive and systematic study of Igger's historiographical thoughts according to the historical materials such as professor Iggers's works and the latest research achievements of Iggers's historiographical thoughts at home and abroad.Based on the interpretation of Iggers's unique academic career,this paper tries to show that his thoughts are multistage,to interpret Iggers's special complex of German historicism and its internal causes in the practice process of historiography and to analyze the internal relationship among anti-German historicism,anti-postmodernism and its global outlook in order to reveal the essence and characteristics of Iggers's historiographical thoughts and highlight Iggers's achievements and influence on historiography.This paper is composed of six parts,including the introduction part,chapter one to four and the conclusion part.The introduction part is mainly written to explain the necessity and importance of this paper,and to illustrate the main ideas and research methods of interpreting Iggers's historiographical thoughts through analyzing the basic situation of Iggers's historiographical thoughts gotten from the academic circles at home and abroad.The first chapter mainly analyzes the specific historical environment of the formation of Iggers's historiographical thoughts.According to the time skeleton,this paper traces the gradual improvement process of Iggers's historiographical thoughts to demonstrate Iggers's pursuit and purport of historiography in different periods.The second chapter mainly expounds Iggers's reflection on German Historicism.This paper analyzes Iggers's special complex of German historicism,and demonstrates Iggers's basic standpoint and attitude towards German historicism.It also analyzes the deep cause of Iggers's anti-modernism in the practice process of historiography.The third chapter mainly expounds Iggers's view of global history.Through the interpretation of Iggers's view of global history,this paper analyzes the relationship among his view of global history,anti-historicism and anti-postmodernism and highlights the value and significance of Iggers's view of global history.The fourth chapter mainly explains the internal characteristics of Iggers's historiography.Combined with the latest achievements of Iggers's historiographical practice,this paper comprehensively analyzes the changes of Iggers's historiographical purport in recent years,and reveals the characteristics of Iggers's historiography shown in practice.The conclusion art mainly focuses on the connection between Iggers and Chinese historical circles,and demonstrates the influence and significance of Iggers's historiographical thoughts on Chinese historical circles.
