Chinese Good Man Xu Yafu

This documentary film describes a Chinese-Vietnamese elder Xu Yafu who was award as the "good man" title from Jiangsu.He insisted on donating money to the disaster area and stricken people for more than 30 years even when His wife is paralytic and needs health care when his son also has the heart disease and opposes his father’s decision.He is a good person and respected by the entire Chinese people,but he is the wicked man in his son’s opinion.He even becomes a strange man in his neighbors’ eyes.He received numerous honors and awards.However,unfortunately,he has no friends.The only person he is willing to talk is his wife.But his wife is laying on the bed and unable to respond to him any more.The only way he can contact the outside world is to make donations.The whole film is divided into five parts.The first part is the title.The title tells the story of the old man’s donation to the children with leukemia in the First Affiliated Hospital of Suzhou and the old man’s interview.He receives numerous awards and depicts the image of the "good Chinese" in the elderly.In the second part,the son and neighboring neighbors do not understand Xu Yafu.Through interviews and cross-cuttings,Xu Yafu’s status in real life is reflected.In the third part,the manifestations of father-son conflict,through a trivial matter "three-year-old incident"highlights the contradiction;in the fourth part,the loneliness of the elderly becomes the heart of the Chinese people.Good people,but no one friend,the only object of confession is to linger in the bed can not respond to the wife,through the form of an interview with the screen,to show the old man to take care of his wife’s speech to the lonely attitude.The last part of the interview with the Red Cross and the elderly as an old man still go to the nursing home to condolence other old people as a conclusion,reflecting the old people’s dedication.Many elderly people like Xu Yafu,whose conditions are not good,are still trying to give back to society.What we need to do is to give them more understanding and give them more humane care than a cold diploma and condolences.Positive advocacy to promote dedication is important,but in addition to giving them corresponding honors,society needs to pay more attention to their hearts and caring for their family members.
