This dissertation explores and studies the evolution of Acanthus tendril pattern,including the study of the culture,design concept,and creative methods of traditional patterns,reinterpreting traditional patterns and re-expressing its intrinsic vitality in contemporary societyTo compare and analyze the historical literature and the related cultural connotations and characteristics through research bibliography by the way of list.Acanthus is a plant that grows on the coast of the Mediterranean.As a decorative pattern,the Acanthus tendril pattern is largely separated from the natural form of the plant.It expresses a formal beauty and a pattern as a carrier.There are various forms emerged with evolution of Acanthus in Eastern and Western culture.It originated in ancient Greece and appeared in the form of fan-shaped palm ornaments in temples and decorative bottle paintings;In the Roman period,it becomes a dominant pattern in the architecture,and as a symbol of the vitality of naturalism;With the prosperity of the Byzantine Empire and the Islamic Empire and the long Middle Ages,Islam and Christianity became the strong spiritual pillars of feudal rule and the sustenance of people's spiritual life.At this time,the pattern has a tremendous transformation,simplified as a stylized tri-leaf ornament.In China,the Acanthus pattern was first introduced with Buddhism and it is an abstract form of three-leaflet or four-leaflet.In the Tang Dynasty,it was still influenced by Buddhism and formed a unique scroll and Baoxiang flower.From the late Tang Dynasty to the Song Dynasty,they gradually fell out of the influence of religion and formed a feminine,lucky pattern.The invasion of the Mongolians brought with it a rich exoticism.It was influenced by the style of Islam until the Ming Dynasty.In Renaissance and the Baroque Rococo period,the Acanthus tendril pattern became complicated.At this time,the integration of the Qing Dynasty and European culture,the European decorative arts also affected the patterns of the Qing Dynasty.The Chinese and Western Twisted Tendril Decorations are in the process of mutual influence and evolution to form patterns of similarities and diff,crences in the same pattern.Through the study of culture,it is concluded that there are great cultural differences behind the varied pattern.The abstract and stylized pattern decorates church ceremonial products and expresses calmness,indifferent and dignified religious emotions in religious building.With the social and cultural exchanges and the circulation of commodity trade,the Acanthus tendril pattern tends to secular life and is decorated in various commodities.Whether it is silk or porcelain,it has become an important carrier for the dissemination of Eastern and Western cultures.Chinese decorative patterns blend the novelty and singularity of exotic patterus.The Acanthus tendril pattern forms distinctive nationalism and regionalism,due to different religious beliefs,regional cultures,folk customs.The article reconstructs and activates the modernization of the Acanthus tendrils pattern.We have designed a cultural and creative product that meets the aesthetics of modern people.It enables the traditional culture to be integrated into the contemporary society in a new form and is accepted by the public,reflecting the value of the inheritance and innovation of the traditional culture...
