The Leadership Quarterly is an international journal that focuses on leadership researches and provides timely articles or papers concerned leadership studies.The Female Leadership Advantage—An Evaluation of the Evidence,one of the papers published in this journal(No.14,2003),is a leadership science text concerned female leadership.This text adopts meta-analysis to prove that women have advantages in certain kind of leadership styles,points out the phenomenon that in today‘s workplace many women are working as effective leaders,and finally gives reasons for the rise of women leaders.This text helps to change people‘s attitude towards female leaders and to improve female leaders ‘ status in workplace.The report is based on the translation of this text.In the translation task,the translator tries to use feminist translation theory to tackle the translation difficulties by applying three translation strategies that integrate the core principles of feminist translation theory,namely,equality,the presence of female and translator ‘s subjectivity.This report consists of four chapters whose content could be divided into five parts.Firstly,the translator introduces the translation task,elaborately describing its background,objectives,etc.Secondly,the translator demonstrates how she conducted the task from three aspects: pre-task preparation,translation process and quality control.Pre-task preparation is developed from the preparation of the source text,related materials,and translation tools.Translation process is mainly discussed from the lexical level,syntactic level and textual level.Quality control includes four-round proofreading by the translator herself,by one of her team members,by her supervisor and by a senior translator from the publishing house respectively.Thirdly,the translator gives a brief introduction to feminist translation theory and explains why she chose this theory to be the guiding principle.And then the translator introduces the feasibility of applying feminist translation theory in this task,and major difficulties in translation.Fourthly,the translator discusses three translation strategies—addition,omission and shifting—by examples analysis.At last,the translator presents a conclusion of the report,and displays what she has learned from the translation task.
