Translation plays an important role in cultural communication.Translation is an important means of cultural communication.Literary translation,as an important type of translation, has more significant features in content expression and artistic charm than non-literary translation. Therefore, literary translation has essential meaning in the researching and learing of different languages. The source text for this translation practice is a short story "The Bowl" written by Francis Scott Fitzgerald. And the total number of words in the English original is about 10,000 words. This report consists of two parts:the translation report and the translated work itself.Guided by context theory, this thesis focuses on analyzing the translation strategies and translation techniques employed in the translation practice.Considering the features of the source text, translation purposes and target readers, the translator chooses context theory as the guiding theory, and explicitation is applied as the major translation strategy to the translation.Besides, some appropriate translation techniques, like particularization, sentence reconstruction, extension, amplification, and other translation techniques are also necessary. The objective of the report is to find out and solve the problems about specific context in the translation practice.Through this project, the translator's ability to translate and solve relevant problems has been greatly improved.
