Minority Theme Documentary "The Third Polar" Narratological Study

As an important part of Chinese film and television documentary culture,documentaries on ethnic minorities in China have been springing up with excellent works so far.At different times,people record the life stories of minorities in their eyes with different needs and ways.Among many Tibetan documentaries,"The Third Pole" as a new benchmark of Tibetan documentaries,and even the entire ethnic minority documentaries,has created one Chinese miracle after another.How to tell a story,how to tell a good story.These problems are inseparable from the role of documentary narrative.In the representative documentary "The Third Pole",how to properly use narrative to open a new door for documentary creation and show the people’s living conditions on the plateau to the world.At present,there are few studies on the narrative of the documentary "The Third Pole".This paper will try to use the way of film narratology to make a deep analysis of it.This paper will study the narrative theme,narrative structure,narrative language,narrative angle and narrative connotation in the documentary "The Third Pole" through five chapters.The first chapter mainly analyses the theme expressed by the creator in the documentary "The Third Pole",which is divided into six parts.Secondly,it summarizes and categorizes the theme of six-set decentralization.In the second chapter,the content of documentary is analyzed from the perspective of narrative structure.Firstly,through the analysis of the whole content,the author explains the creative mode of the composite block structure,and then analyzes the details of the structure through the semiotic method.The third chapter mainly analyses the narrative language of the documentary "The Third Pole",from the visual language such as lens language,color picture and so on.Then it studies auditory language such as music,narrative,commentary and so on.Chapter four mainly analyses the narrative angle of documentary film,from the angle of subject and object.The fifth chapter mainly analyses the connotation of narration.The connotation of narration in the documentary "The Third Pole" is particularly important.It is analyzed through the expression of cultural and spiritual connotations.Finally,in the conclusion,according to the above research content,the narrative of the documentary "Third Pole" is summarized,and the reason why it became a shocking documentary is analyzed.The third pole is chosen as the research object because it has the characteristics of excellent works in this era.It truly shows the living conditions of people in modernand contemporary Tibetan areas.It is simple and progressive,enthusiastic and pure cultural connotation.This paper will use text analysis method,narrative method and interpretation method to study and analyze the representation and connotation of each story in each episode.To study how it becomes the benchmark of minority documentaries through narrative expression,and how it can provide reference for the later creation of minority documentaries,so as to better disseminate national culture through the form of documentaries,and increase the firewood and salary for the exchange and integration of national cultures.
