| English writing is one of the most important output skills and plays an important role in students’ English learning.Writing ability can reflect one’s language proficiency.It can be treated as an important standard to evaluate students’ English level.However,at present,there exists many problems in senior high school students’ English writing,such as Chinglish and vocabulary lacking and so on.Therefore,how to improve English writing achievement has already become one of the most important topics for scholars and English teachers.Lexical chunks are lexical phrases which are considered to be fixed or semi-fixed collocations with certain grammar functions.It is conventional multi-word phenomenon with varying length and has the sentence forms and sentence meaning.Lexical chunk approach has positive impact on language fluency and accuracy.Based on such background,the study aims to test the following aspects that the lexical chunk approach can promote students’ English writing achievement;The relationship between lexical chunks and English writing achievement and students’ attitudes towards lexical chunk-based English writing.The author carried out the experiment with the empirical method and the experiment lasted eight weeks.The involved participants of experiment are from Qin’an secondary senior high school.One class is randomly chosen as the experimental class and the other is control class.During the experiment,the lexical chunk approach was used in experimental class,while the regularly-used teaching method was applied in control class.The data collected from pretest,post-test,two questionnaires and interview are analyzed by SPSS.21 and then the researcher discussed the experimental results.The results of writing achievement show that compared with the regularly used teaching method,lexical chunk approach has a positive influence on improving students’ English writing achievement;And the result of the correlation analysis shows that there is a strong relationship between lexical chunks and writing achievement,lexical chunks have positive influence on students’ English writing;The result of questionnaires and interview indicate that students’ attitude towards lexical English writing obviously changed and at the same time,they paid more attention to collect the lexical chunks they have met in their English learning.Therefore,the researcher draws a conclusion that lexical chunk approach is a useful teaching method which can be used to improve students’ writing achievement.However,because of the limitation of this research,there are still some problems need to be solved for the further study.Thus,the researcher hopes that lexical chunk approach can get more attention from other scholars and teachers. |
