Vocabulary is one of the important part of language learning.In recent years,the study of English vocabulary has been continuously probed in various perspectives.The linguists,represented by Lewis,raised a core idea that language teaching should focus on vocabulary,and apply lexical chunk theory to language teaching,which provides a theoretical basis for listening,speaking and reading of English teaching.The chunk features facilitate the learner's direct extraction,and its own grammar,context,and semantic features can improve the accuracy of language.In addition,more scholars apply lexical chunk theory to practical teaching activities,and combine it with empirical tests to find out the correlation between lexical chunk and English teaching.This research focuses on the influence of lexical chunks on senior English writing.The research subjects were senior one student from Lu'an No.1 Middle School East Campus in Anhui Province.Students in both classes had the same learning background and learning materials.The author divided the two parallel classes into experimental class and control class respectively.The experimental class adopted the writing teaching activities based on lexical chunk method,while the control class carried out the routine teaching.The test papers before and after the test were written by the school English scientific research group with repeated revision.After students finished their writing,the author collected and analyzed the data in time to get research results.Writing scores and the number of lexical chunks used in the experimental class have been improved after a semester of lexical chunks teaching.Besides,the author analyzes the students' attitude towards lexical chunk in writing to exemplify whether students can apply lexical chunks to other sections of English learning through questionnaires and interviews.In the last part,the author emphasizes some thoughts of this research on teaching,and the most important thing is to cultivate students' autonomous learning ability and enhance their self-confidence.
