With the continuous advancement of the new curriculum reform,we are increasingly aware of the subjective position of students in teaching.If English reading teaching is to improve students' reading ability,stimulate students' reading interest and achieve effect reading,we should enrich teaching methods.The anchored instruction is a teaching model based on constructivist and situated cognition theory,which is a student-centered method that emphasizes situated teaching and pays more attention to students' self-learning ability,cooperative learning ability and practical application ability.Anchored instruction is widely used in the cultivation of students' reading ability,but the research on the application of anchored instruction to junior middle school English reading teaching is relatively rare.Therefore,this paper focuses on the English reading teaching of junior high school,and explores the possible effects and effects of the anchored instruction on junior high school English reading ability.In this study,the author selected 77 middle school students with the same level of English reading in the Shenzhen Middle School in Wudu District,Longnan City as the research subjects,including 38 students in experimental class and 39 students in control class.The anchored instruction is adopted in experimental class,and at the same time,the grammar translation method is used to teach English reading in the control class.During the two-month teaching experiment,the author collected data and analyzed it through tests,questionnaires and interviews to answer the following three research questions: Can anchored instruction improve students' inferential ability in English reading? Can anchored instruction improve students' summarizing ability in English reading? Can anchored instruction arouse students' interest in English reading?Through independent samples test,paired samples test and descriptive statistics of the date,it indicates that anchored instruction can improve students' inferential comprehension ability;anchored instruction can improve students' summary ability and anchored instruction can arouse students' reading interest.
