With the development of globalization, international cultural exchanges between different countries are increasingly frequent, which makes culture teaching and intercultural communication teaching imminent. However,as for the foreign culture teaching, the junior high schools in China mainly focus on culture information introduction, and as a result,it leads to the deficiency of culture experience, which hinders the cultivation of students' intercultural communicative competence. Therefore,it is worthwhile to pay attention to the experience of English culture in the cultivation of learners' English intercultural communicative competence. This study explored whether experiential culture teaching model could improve junior high school students' English intercultural communicative competence from an empirical point of view.Based on the Experiential Learning,Situated Learning,Wiseman's ICC Model and Constructivism, the writer designed a one-semester experiential culture teaching experiment.95 students from two intact classes of 8th grade were selected in this experiment. They were randomly divided into experimental class(N=48)and control class(N=47).During the experiment, the experimental class had been taught the English culture contents through experiential culture teaching model, while control class was still taught by the regularly-used teaching method. After the experiment, the author used SPSS to make statistical analysis. The experimental results show that the use of English experiential culture teaching can effectively improve junior high school students' English intercultural communicative competence, especially in learners' intercultural communicative skills and awareness. But there is no vantage in gaining intercultural communicative knowledge compared with the regularly-used culture teaching model. The results of questionnaire also show that students' acceptance of cultural experience is relatively satisfactory. Therefore, the application of experiential culture teaching is of some worth in developing learners' intercultural communicative competence. However, there are some limitations in this research. The limited number of the students and the relatively short time of the experiment are the issues that need to improve in the future study.
