The relationship between language and culture is interdependent and exists in an integral whole.In the process of English teaching,attention should be paid to improving students' ability of thinking and expression in English on the basis of developing their comprehensive ability of language use.At the same time,it is also determined in the New Curriculum the objectives of cultural awareness for different levelsTo find out the current problems of culture teaching in English teaching of junior high schools,puts forward relevant improvements,improve the quality of junior middle schools' English culture teaching,the author has carried on the questionnaire investigations and studies on the present situation of culture teaching in junior middle school English teaching.According to the survey results,the problems and possible causes of English culture teaching in junior middle school are found.Due to the existence of the examination mechanism,junior high school students have low interest in learning,weak cultural awareness as well as low learning efficiency.However,teachers also have some problems,such as monotonous teaching methods,emphasis on language knowledge and weak consciousness of cultural teaching in teaching process.The above problems have seriously affected the development of cultural teaching in junior high school English teaching.With the development of economic globalization,more and more English teachers begin to realize that they should not only take English as an examination course,but also help students acquire certain cultural knowledge in the process of English teaching as well as promote their intercultural communication ability.However,in some junior high school,due to various reasons,the cultural teaching in English teaching has not really been implemented and there are still some problems.On the basis of intercultural communication and other theories,the author integrates cultural teaching into English classroom teaching in junior high school and conducts an empirical study for half a year.The data about "cultural consciousness" andlanguage skills and knowledge collected in the experiment were tested and analyzed.The author concludes that cultural teaching can be integrated into the English classroom teaching of junior high school to a certain extent to improve students' cultural awareness and skills.In addition,cultural teaching can further improve students' language skills and knowledge skills.
