The English Curriculum Standards in Compulsory Education(2011 edition)clearly puts forward that the compulsory education stage of English curriculum has the double characters of instrumentality and humanism.Among them,instrumentality mainly refers to the task of developing students' thinking skills in English curriculum.In 2016,according to the special report on the development of core literacy of students in China,the scientific spirit,learning to learn and so on mentioned in the literacy of "rational thinking,brave to explore,learn to learn good,diligent in reflection" all emphasized the importance of the development and cultivation of students' thinking skills.Therefore,this paper focuses on how children's English teaching can promote the development of their thinking skills.First of all,based on the author's practical experience to predict the problem,this paper makes a literature review on the related research of thinking skills,the relationship between language learning and thinking development,and the related research on children's English teaching.Reflect on the enlightenment of the existing research and the foothold and innovation of this paper.Through case study,classroom observation and interview,the author analyzes how existing children's English teaching can interfere with the construction of thinking skills,and find out the correlation between thinking activity and language output.In addition to paying more attention to the acquisition of language knowledge and the mastery of four language skills such as listening,speaking,reading and writing,children's English teaching also plays an important role in promoting the thinking skills required by children's language ability construction.Secondly,it elaborates the thinking process of children's foreign language learning,the relationship between foreign language ability and thinking skills,the basic thinking method of foreign language learning,and gradually refines the present mode of thinking in children's English teaching.Thinking about how children's language expresses the depth of thinking,combining classroom observation and teacher interviews,exploring classroom teaching activities suitable for the development of thinking skills,exploring the ways and mechanisms of teaching methods and processes that affect children's thinking skills.Finally,it reflects on the classroom teaching strategies to promote the development of children's thinking skills in the process of primary English classroom teaching,including grasping the gradient and difficulty of the problem,setting up the task skillfully to induce thinking,infiltrating the thinking method,strengthening the understanding,and presenting the thinking paradigm.Provide rich and authentic language materials to create an innovative and different classroom atmosphere.By the above research,the author wishes to provide new ideas and operational ways for children's English teaching to promote the development of children's thinking skills,and better reflect the unified nature of English curriculum under the requirements of curriculum standards.
