The Han Empire and the Roman Empire were both large countries with vast territory and strong national power in the eastern and western world at that time. They had many similarities and many differences. In the course of their respective development, the two empires are facing similar troubles, but they have completely different development courses, which reflects the differences between eastern and western civilization concepts.Although both are unified empires with similar times and influence, due to various difficulties in comparative politics research,it is rare to put them under the vision of comparative politics for comparative analysis. Therefore, comparative research on Han Empire and Roman Empire is rare.At the same time,Christianity and Confucianism,as indispensable spiritual factors in the political life of the two empires, have had a great impact on the rise and fall of contemporary empires and the development of civilization in later generations. Therefore, the relationship between politics and religion between the Han Empire and the Roman Empire is a research topic of great value.During the development of the two empires, their relationship between politics and religion was totally different. The difference between the two types of church-state relationship is the result of the joint action of many factors. It is not only closely related to the political power and the religious power, but also influenced by the respective geographical environment, economic foundation, history and culture of the two countries. At the same time, different political and religious relations give rise to completely different political power patterns, which will lay an important foundation for the political development, internal and external policies, public attitudes and social life of their respective countries. In view of this, this paper attempts to make a comparatively in-depth comparative study of the relationship between politics and religion between the Han Empire and the Roman Empire from the perspective of comparative politics and historical sociology,so as to provide useful historical experience for the development of contemporary politics.
