A Study On The Image Narration Of Character Documentary

As a type of documentary,the character documentary takes “human”as the main body and develops with the development of the plot of the characters.It records the human behavior,emotional fate,survival state,inner world and other aspects in real time and space.The image narrative of the character documentary is based on the combination of sound and image,through the lens to form a practical and effective information transmission,giving the audience a“immersive ” simulation experience.Film and television creators present written words or ideas in their hearts through sounds and pictures.This process not only changes the form of the work,but also subtly forms a new interpretation,giving new meaning.After reading a large number of literature monographs and watching a large number of documentary works with distinct image narrative characteristics,the author completed the graduation work“Feelings”by himself.At the same time,the author made a comprehensive analysis of the image narrative of the documentary,completed the graduation thesis,and divided it into five parts by using the structure of “total-score-total”.First of all,the introduction part,the author analyzed the background and significance of the image narrative research of character documentaries,at the same time,systematically combed the research status at home and abroad,enriched the theoretical support,so as to determine their own research direction.The first chapter is the overall overview of the character documentary and image narrative.The author narrates the character documentary and image narrative separately,and then analyses the relationship between them.Image narrative is of great significance in the character documentary.The expression of all contents is based on image.Including spiritual expression,subjective expression and objective expression,all of them convey social value to the audience through the way of image expression.The second chapter is the image narrative expression of the character documentary,which is the core part of this paper.There are many ways of image narration in the character documentary.The main ways of expression are logic,details and rhythm.At the same time,combining with the graduation work“Feelings”,the author tries to clarify the image narrative expression from the surface to the inside.The third chapter is the analysis of the image narrative language of the character documentary,which includes two parts: the picture language and the sound language.The author combines his graduation work“Feelings”and representative character documentaryworks,and proposes that the image and sound should be coordinated,the appropriate use of sound language can better foil the image narrative;rational use of composition,color,lens and other picture language to strengthen the image narrative.Chapter IV is about the techniques of narrative shooting and editing of character documentaries.When shooting,we should use various shooting techniques flexibly.At the same time,we should pay attention to the coherence and rationality of action cohesion when editing.The last part is a systematic summary of the image narrative of the character documentary film.It summarizes the specific strategies of the image narrative creation through the practice of his graduation work“Feelings”,so as to achieve the combination of theory and practice.I hope this research can provide theoretical and practical help for the image narrative research of the character documentary,so that more creators pay attention to the image narrative and bring more excellent character documentary works to the audience.
