Practical Research On Nonlinear Narration In The Creation Of Character Documentary Films

The concept of non-linearity originates from mathematics and is put forward relative to linearity.It is different from the certainty and inevitability of linear concept in time and space.It reflects that the relationship between all things in the world is objective,interactive,complex and changeable.After the concept of non-linearity has been applied to literature,especially in the field of film and television,"non-linear narrative" has been widely used as a narrative mode,which not only conforms to the characteristics of most things that are accidental and inevitable,free and changeable,but also has advantages in the embodiment of aesthetic value.Character documentary is a documentary form which regards characters as the center and stories as the carriers to truly restore the thoughts and feelings of characters and express the humanistic content.There are contradictions and changes between characters and time,space and related characters in the story.This nature determines that the character documentary itself conforms to the complex nature of non-linearity.Therefore,it concludes the non-linear narrative theory and documentary creation.Together,it can be reasonably embodied in characterization,story structure and emotional expression,which not only conforms to the intrinsic nature of things,but also improves the artistry and dissemination of works.Taking the graduation work "Lei Xianqiang and Lion Tower" as an example,this paper expounds the practical research of non-linear narration in the creation of character documentaries.
