Study On Butterfly Image In Literary And Artistic Creation

A butterfly,gently floating into Zhuang Zhou's dream 2 millenniums ago,traversing the long river of history,formed a graceful image,releasing a scent of everlasting rhyme.After entering the literati's vision,butterflies have been transformed into colorful dreams,existing in all kinds of literary and artistic works.Among the many images of fauna and flora,butterflies,due to their enviable appearance and unique life course of breaking cocoons into butterflies,are favored by literati and refined by scholars both at home and abroad.They have brought to endless imagination and philosophical thinking to literati and artists for thousands of years,which makes butterflies accumulated in the depth of human's collective unconsciousness as a cultural prototype.Although butterfly images are scattered in poetry,fiction,drama,film,music and other literary and artistic works,their implications are often intertwined and blended,reflecting the common cultural psychology of human beings.Commencing from Zhuang Zhou's butterfly dream,the dream of butterfly seems not to be like a dream,but a mind-set and a thing-and-me-forgotten situation,transcending the limitations of time and space,which leads people to an eternal ideal state.It highlights a feeling leading to the universe and life,and gives people a transcendent,open-minded and touching artistic charm.Butterfly image,as a mingling of mind and an object and matching of scenes,embodies the concept or mode of thinking of artistic creation,and has a strong artistic appeal.This article combines the biological characteristics of butterflies,the allusions of Dream Butterfly in Zhuang Zhou,Decay Butterfly in Han Ping's Wife and other literary and artistic works related to butterflies and excavates the symbolic significance of butterfly image.This paper discusses the aesthetic,cultural,psychological,emotional and spiritual connotations of butterfly images in literary and artistic works from four aspects: the illusion of butterfly,the love of butterfly,the transformation of butterfly and the original meaning of butterfly.
