The continuation task proposed by Professor Wang Chuming is a combination of language input and output.It is not only a combination of language imitation and creative use but a combination of language learning and application,which is of great help to improve the efficiency of foreign language learning.In recent years,scholars have carried out a lot of research,but there are few empirical studies on the continuation task in junior high school English teaching.This research aims to study the application of the continuation task in junior high school English teaching,and tries to explore the effects of the continuation task on the accuracy,fluency and complexity of English writing.In this study,84 students in grade 8 from the 45 th Middle School of Lanzhou were selected as subjects,who were divided into control class and experimental class.The 41 students in the control class adopted topic-writing,and the 43 students in the experimental class finished continuation tasks.The research lasted for two months.During the experiment,the two classes wrote seven times,and the two classes had a pre-test and post-test before and after the experiment.After the experiment,SPSS22.0 was used to comprehensively analyze the data of pre-test and post-test.Scientific analysis and deep discussion of the writing works of two classes were carried out.The results show that compared with the control class,the accuracy and fluency of English writing of the experimental class are improved after two months the continuation task training,but the complexity of English writing is not improved.The implications of this study is that the accuracy and fluency of English writing can be improved by reading related materials and combining reading with writing.However,due to the limitations and shortcomings of this research,it is expected that other researchers will conduct more in-depth research in the future.
