This thesis mainly studies the effect on the continuation task of high school students' English writings.English writing has become an important indicator of the comprehensive ability of English learners to apply language,and is widely used in various foreign language exams at home and abroad.However,the English writing teaching s ituation in senior high schools is not optimistic.It is an issue that needs attention.Under the guidance of second language acquisition theory,professor Wang Chuming proposed continuation task,which is a method of combining reading with writing to provide a new idea for improving English writing teaching.Since continuation task in 2016 as a new type of English for the college entrance examination in Zhejiang Province,it has attracted the attention of many foreign language teaching workers.Judging from the existing researches,most of the continuation tasks are applied in univers ities,and there is less empirical research in high school English teaching.This research is based on the guidance of interaction and alignment theory and the production-oriented approach,combined with related research on the effects of continuation task to promote learning,and imnd Chinese Current News explore the impact of continuation task on the complexity,accuracy and fluency of English writing in high school.The participants of this study were students from two classes(a total of 96 students)of a senior high school in Ningxiang City,Hunan Province.Two classes are randomly assigned,one for the experimental class and one for the control class.,and then experimental methods were used to explore the following three questions:(1)What are the effects of continuation task to the writing accuracy of high school students' writings?(2)What are the effects of continuation task to the writing fluency of high school students' writings?(3)What are the effects of continuation task to the writing complexity of high school students' writings?The research results show that continuation task can effectively improve the accuracy,fluency and complexity of students' writing language.Continuation task can enrich students' writing content;continuation task can make students write more logically and coherently;continuation task allows students to focus more on language and wording.
