The Antonym Of Research On The Dunhuang Poetry

Dunhuang Poetry is mainly about folk poems written by the people from the lower class,also with a few coming from the literati.With various themes,its contents are earthy and natural in words,easy to understand and rich in colloquial expressions.Thus,all of these characteristics make it an invaluable material for modern Chinese studies.This paper therefore,taking the antonyms in Dunhuang Poetry as its research subject and drawing on previous research methods and achievements,attempts to make an integral research on the antonyms in Dunhuang Poetry and sum up its characteristics and functions.Finally it intends to make contributions to the study of antonynmous polymerization in this period.This paper can be divided into three parts.The first part is the introduction to the paper,which mainly summarizes previous research on Dunhuang poetry and the studies on antonyms in Dunhuang poetry;it also defines antonym according to its grammatical,semantic and pragmatic standards.Accordingly,the method of identifying the antonyms is summarized.There are two chapters in the second part.It is concluded in the first chapter that there are 173 pairs of antonyms in Dunhuang Poetry based on the criteria and methods to identify antonyms.Then it tries to classify and analyze the 173 pairs of antonyms from the perspective of pronunciation,part of speech,anti-sense relationship and content.The second chapter,based on the sememe,will make a semantic analysis of the antonyms in Dunhuang poetry.Because of the multiple meanings of words,some words may have more than one equivalent word on one meaning,while some words could have one equivalent word on multiple meanings;even a pair of antonyms can also be extended simultaneously to form multiple equivalent meanings.Thus,the antonyms of Dunhuang poetry can be divided into four categories: bilateral single-meaning equivalence,bilateral multi-meaning equivalence,multilateral single-meaning equivalence and multilateral multi-meaning equivalence.The third part is the conclusion of the paper.By describing and analyzing the antonyms of Dunhuang Poetry in the first and second chapters,it is concluded that Dunhuang Poetry abounds with antonyms,with their unbalanced syllables,complex equivalence.There also exists Buddhist antonyms,classical Chinese and folk and colloquial words.All in all,the antonyms in Dunhuang Poetryplay a vital role in forming compound antonyms,determining synonyms,and enhancing rhetorical effects.
