With the development of commodity economy,market competition is becoming more and more fierce.Illustration has been evacuated from the function of reading and explaining words to being an independent kind of painting with its unique aesthetic value.Entering the post-industrialization era,the economic form began to change from production-oriented to consumption-oriented.With the rising of creativity and cultural economy,Symbolic economy that guided by consumer culture has gradually become a new driving force to promote urban economic development.Following the emergence of "trend culture",illustration design plays an important role in how to strengthen the product theme and highlight the era's personality through the overwhelming wave of information.In this "Image Carnival Era",people pay more and more attention to the ugliness of fashion illustration which has become a new style in illustration design.The emergence and development of this style is not achieved overnight.It is the historical transformation of the aesthetic form in ugliness appreciation.It is the emotional need of current commodity communication.It is also the stylized embodiment of modernist`post-modernist aesthetics in commercial design.While recognizing the "beauty of the times",it is particularly important to analyze and study the design style of the times.This paper makes an in-depth analysis of the aesthetic ugliness in illustration design not only from the field of design method,but also from the perspective of culture and popular aesthetics,so as to serve the external propaganda of current commodities worthily.
