Around 2010,fake voice began to appear on baidu tieba and other online communities.After almost 10 years of development,fake voice has turned into a distinctive subculture that encompasses both learning and practice.In recent years,representative fake voice performers such as Paigu Jiaozhu,have attracted a lot of public attention and fans through the unique charm of their voices.Drawing on subculture research,gender and sound theory,this thesis illustrates the basic condition of fake voice subculture and its cultural traits,discusses the underlying gender performance of fake voice practices,and explores the trend of the development of fake voice and its cultural value.This thesis is divided into four chapters.The first chapter outlines the rationale,methods and significance of the research,as well as its theoretical framework.In the second chapter,I define the concept of "fake voice" andtease out the historical context of fake voice.The third chapter focuses on the subcultural community formed around fake voice learning,the relationship between fake voice subculture and other subcultures,and the characteristics of fake-voice subculture.The fourth chapter examines how fake voice fans use fake voice in their daily lives,their views on gender,the cross-gender performance behind fake voice,the cultural significance of fake voice and the future of fake voice subculture.
