Henry David Thoreau(1817-1862)is a famous naturalist writer,philosopher and thinker in the 19 th century.He is honored as " an important founder of American environmental ethics".He loved nature,was close to nature,and felt the real natural scenery between mountains and rivers.He could be said to be the loyal follower and lover of nature.Today,with the increasingly prominent environmental problems and the gradual maturity of ecological and environmental protection thoughts is becoming more and more mature,people begin to reflect on the destruction of nature caused by industrial development and personal behavior.As early as in the 19 th century,Thoreau elaborated his views on how to get along with nature in his famous book Walden:human and nature belong to the same unity,nature is the wealth given to human by God,human shouldn't artificially change species,should be close to nature,and people's life should be natural and peaceful.Thoreau's above basic thoughts form the motive force of this article.The purpose of this paper is to make a comprehensive analysis and summary of the origin,basic connotation,influence and enlightenment of the ecological ethics thought contained in Walden.First of all,from the aspects of personal life,ideological basis and problems of the times,this paper discusses how the ecological ethics thought of Walden was inspired by multiple factors: from the perspective of life,the formation of Walden ecological ethics was influenced by his mother's affection to Thoreau in his family education,as well as his concrete practice of living by Walden;from the perspective of ideological origin,Thoreau was influenced by transcendentalism,Emerson and Chinese Confucianism and Taoism;according to the current situation of the times,Thoreau lived in an era of rapid industrial development,but people also fell into a double crisis of serious destruction of the ecological environment and spiritual impoverishment.On this basis,this paper analyzes the relationship between man and nature contained in Walden: to overcome the limitations of Anthropocentrism and respect the existence value of natural life;In order to maintain a dynamic balance between wilderness and civilization and ensurethe peaceful spiritual enjoyment of people.Then,the analysis of " ecology and life" in the ecological ethics thought of Walden,hoping that people can seek return from self to ecological ethics under the concept of simple living,rebuild the gentle interpersonal relationship between human and nature,and harvest ecological happiness in the harmonious symbiosis with nature.Finally,put the ecological ethics thought of Walden under the framework of western ecological ethics thought history,investigate its influence on later generations' environmental philosophy,environmental ethics theory and environmental protection movement,dialectically analyze and objectively understand the limitations of the ecological ethics thought of Walden,so as to explore reasonable absorption methods and promote the current construction of ecological civilization in China.
