The original text in this translation project is Chapter 3 of Insane: America's Criminal Treatment of Mental Illness written by Alisa Roth.This book mainly explores the problem of how to deal with people with mental illness in a more humanitarian way.This chapter introduces the changes and evolution of institutions such as modern hospitals,prisons and jails and the living condition of people with mental illness.According to the type of the source text,this one belongs to the informative type.This translation report is consisted of two parts,the first is to explore translation practices on the basis of translation theories,the second is to introduce the main background of the text,which includes the author and the content of the text.The third one is to introduce the difficulties met by the process of the translation and analyze how to tackle them with translation theory.The last one is summary,which mainly gives a conclusion and finds shortcomings in this report.
