Learning motivation is an important factor that affects the efficiency of second language or foreign language learning.At present,most researchers mainly focus on the positive aspects of motivation,but rarely on the negative side of motivation,namely,demotivation.In addition,few researches pay attention to learners' demotivation in the senior high school,and the comparative researches on demotivation between two senior high schools are extremely few.Therefore,this study mainly compares English low achievers' demotivation in two senior high schools in order to obtain a more objective and comprehensive understanding.Both quantitative and qualitative research methods have been employed in this investigation.A sample of 102 low achievers from two senior high schools in NanChang was chosen as the research subjects,including 51 low achievers from a key high school and the other 51 low achievers from an ordinary high school.This study attempts to explore the following two questions:(1).what is the general picture of low achievers' English demotivation?(2).Are there any English demotivation differences among low achievers from the key and the ordinary senior high schools?If yes,what kind of differences?Descriptive statistics,independent T-test and one-way ANOVA analysis were used to process the collected data.The results of the present investigation are as follows:(1)low achievers do exist English learning demotivation among in these two senior high schools.Moreover,the sequence of three demotivating factors is the same in the two schools,which is student-related,course-related and teacher-related factors in a descending order.(2)there are no significant dimotivation differences among low achievers concerning teacher-related,student-related and course-related demotivating factors in the two senior high schools.Furthermore,significant demotivation differences among low achievers with different demotivation intensity can't be found in terms of teacher-related and course-related factors,but significant differences exist concerning student-related factors.
