With the development of globalization, international environment,in particular the changes of neighboring countries in politics, economy and society, has direct bearing on China's peaceful growth.Myanmar,as one of the neighboring countries of China, plays an important role in China's economic booming, border stability and security, and the implementation of the Belt and Road Initiative. However, the situation in Myanmar is still unstable. The conflict in Northern Myanmar threatens the peace and security of China's border areas,to which great attention has been paid by China. Therefore, keeping abreast of the latest development of the situation in Myanmar is crucial to China's stability and development. The author was commissioned by a teacher from College of ASEAN Studies of Guangxi University for Nationalities to translate a political essay named “Myanmar's Stalled Transition”,which studies and discusses the recent situation in Myanmar. The translated text is expected to be contributed to the journal of Southeast Asian Studies as a reference for Chinese scholars.Translation, literally,is rewriting in a different language. Therefore, this report plans to make case analysis on the basis of the above-mentioned translation project from the perspective of the Rewriting Theory,to be specific, from the aspects of ideology, poetics and patronage. This paper will summarize the problems in the translation of political essays and analyze how they were addressed from the perspective of the Rewriting Theory, and thus conclude the experience and lessons in translating political essays.Through the case analysis,it is found that ideology, poetics and patronage do play a significant role in influencing the translators' choice of translation strategies and that the translator should take account of these three elements so as to guarantee the quality and effect of the translation. It is hoped that this report can provide some references and translation skills,as well as some experience and lessons for other translators in political translation.
