Vocabulary is one of an important measure for one's language proficiency.Let alone the Chinese language as the teaching of second language.So the importance of vocabulary is self-evident.There are a variety of methods to learn vocabulary.The approach of “understanding the words by context” is adopted in most of vocabulary teaching for teaching Chinese as a foreign language.As for this approach,teaching is conducted according to the sequence of the vocabularies occurring in the teaching materials and dominated by those included in the textbooks.It is impossible for any teaching material to include all of vocabularies of HSK lexical syllabus.In addition,specialized vocabulary classes do not suit for the teaching of Chinese as a foreign language.So these exert influences on the HSK examination for the students.The author found in the practical teaching that those from Sudan who learn the Chinese language have unsatisfactory effect in learning vocabulary.The reasons for that is dissatisfying vocabulary and low learning efficiency of students,not systematic vocabulary teaching by teachers,and vocabulary extension by the teachers in classes being beyond the teaching syllabus and insufficient.At present,the relevant researches into the semantic field theories in China concentrates on English language teaching.The lexical classification from the perspective of teaching Chinese as a foreign language focuses on theories.All of the above result in deficient study on lexical classification.So a specific classification will be conducted for the nouns of HSK Examination Syllabus Level 6 from the perspective of semantic field in this article.The first part of the paper involves reasons for its selected topic,research status(including that of semantic field theory and teaching Chinese as a foreign language),study contents,research methods,research objectives and research significance.The second part presents a theoretical basis of the semantic field theory.The third part of the thesis covers a specific classification for the nouns of modern Chinese language(a case study of the vocabularies from HSK level 6)from the perspective of semantic field.The fourth part involves the application of the basic principle and approaches for noun classification.The fifth part is about how the noun classification is applied in the practical classes.A classification is conducted in this paper for HSK vocabulary by applying semantic field theory.The purpose of this article is to provide some basis for the our Chinese teachers in their vocabulary teaching,guide those who learn Chinese language to establish a Chinese vocabulary system in hope of improving their learning efficiency.
