As one of the most sober thinkers in the modern and contemporary art world,frank auerbach has achieved a certain position in the western modern art history with the help of two painting themes: portrait and urban landscape.However,when interpreting his works of art,scholars are usually limited to studying the thick texture language,and the study of colors and shapes in his artistic language is relatively one-sided.Auerbach,as a rare successor of traditional art,may be worth reinterpreting his artistic works and painting ideas.This paper will study how frank auerbach's painting language is reflected in artistic creation from the following four aspects.The first pair of auerbach's block-style brushwork texture language in his paintings were studied,and the characteristics of thick texture language in his paintings were defined in time,and the uniqueness of his artistic language was analyzed from the swimming and multi-layered painting forms.The second part studies the causes of auerbach's dramatic colors,and compares the relationship between auerbach and Rembrandt's dramatic colors in the stage,as well as auerbach's later color conversion process.Third,in the analysis of auerbach's modeling language,it is found that the formation of "V" symbol elements in auerbach's paintings and the presentation of geometric forms in post-war reconstruction in his paintings.The fourth part,from the perspective of today's artists' creation,expounds the enlightening significance of auerbach's painting language and discusses the importance of traditional painting.Through the above four parts of the study,auerbach can have a more comprehensive understanding.
