A Study On ABB-type Color Terms In Mandarin

There are many ABB-type color terms in Mandarin.However,few studies,at present,has been specialized in the ABB-type color terms in Mandarin.We take the"three different angles(the outside form,the inside meaning and the pragmatic value)" as the basic framework to make a thorough inquiry about the ABB-type color terms.The dissertation is divided into five chapters:The chapter one focuses on reviewing the important results related to ABB-type color terms and the main deficiencies in the current research.The research methods and the source of corpus are introduced as well in this chapter.We develop an new analysis framework to analyze the ABB-type color terms in the second chapter.Then we divide the ABB-type color terms into two parts,part A and part BB,and reclassify them according to the analysis framework.In addition,the characteristics of the two major constituent p,arts,and the grammatical function of ABB-type color terms in sentence,are discussed in this chapter.In the third chapter,we discuss the inside meaning of ABB-type color terms from the perspectives of semantic status,semantic orientation,and quantitative features.We make a comprehensive survey of the pragmatic value of ABB-type color terms from the aspects of rhythm effect,rhetorical function,stylistic distribution,and gender differences in the fourth chapter.The last chapter briefly summarizes a series of linguistic attributes or features of ABB-type color terms in Mandarin.
