According to the National English Curriculum Standards for Senior High School(2017),English teaching in senior high school aims at developing the students' comprehensive linguistic competence.English teaching should not only pay attention to the accumulation of students' language knowledge,but also to the cultivation of students' intercultural awareness.In the process of English teaching,the introduction of intercultural awareness by teachers is helpful to cultivate students' interest in learning English,to enhance their ability to learn English and to improve their comprehensive linguistic competence.However,in most senior high school English classes,teachers still focus on the teaching of language knowledge but ignore the training of cultural awareness.Based on the theory of intercultural awareness and the relationship between language and culture,the author studies on intercultural awareness cultivation in English teaching of senior high schools from the following two aspects:Question 1: What's the current situation of student's intercultural awareness in senior high school English classroom?Question 2: Is there a correlation between senior high school students' intercultural awareness and their English achievements?In order to answer the above two questions,210 students in Huludao No.7 Senior High School were randomly selected as the subjects of the survey.This research mainly adopted three research instruments: test,questionnaire and interview.The data and results of which were analyzed and discussed through SPSS19.0 software.The findings show that the overall situation of students' intercultural awareness is at a low level,the current cultural input cannot meet the needs of students,from three dimensions of intercultural awareness,we can see that the dimension of students' cultural knowledge is low;senior high school students' intercultural awareness and their English achievements have a significant medium positive relationship,and there is a significant high positive relation between students' cultural knowledge and their English achievements,there is a significant medium positive relation between cultural understanding and English achievements and between cultural communication awareness and English achievements.Therefore,the author gives some suggestions on how to improve students' intercultural awareness in English teaching in senior high schools.
