The Use Of Insects In Contemporary Art

Insects are one of the most attractive creatures in the world.They not only have the varied posture,but also different physiological behaviors.In the process of the evolution of human civilization,insects have a huge impact on humans.For example,agricultural production has been indispensable for insecticide pollination since ancient times,sericulture promotes the important trade like the Silk Road,and the movement of population,as well as many large plagues caused by vector insects.So insects,such small creatures,also carry many clues related to human history.In contemporary art,more and more artists began to extract and use the insect element,so that the image,behavior,by-products of insects and other things are included in the creation.As a biological material,insects not only have a high degree of recognition,but also have some effects that other non-biological materials and media can not achieve.Artists extract different information from them and use them with different artistic strategies,so that the attributes of insects in art and culture are constantly expanding.This paper is mainly carried out in the following aspects.Firstly,it introduces the uniqueness of insects from the aspects of insect morphology and behavior,and then analyzes the cases of using insect elements in contemporary art.In the end,I will explore the possibilities of this type of art work by experimenting the method of creating with intsect element.
