Image is one of the ways of expression in addition to language and words.Image is a visual carrier of artistic creation.It supports the development of visual art and constitutes a rich history of art.Countless works of art from image have been created by people.From the cave paintings in the primitive period to the realistic paintings in the classical period,from the abstract paintings of modernism to the multiple creations of contemporary art until to the fictitious images of the 21 st century,the image is looking for the profound meaning behind the theme and the content.Without language expression,the meaning of image is the most essential self-expression of art works.The interpretation of the images in the work is also searching the meaning of the images.Since the 1960 s,the Western world has a major turn in culture,philosophy,art and so on,the turn of artistic is more inclined to "visual centralism",so the image goes into the public view again.Jacques Derrida’s theory of “difference” is also connected to the core of deconstruction,it turns art into a flat meaning and the meaning is constantly disintegrating.The image appropriation of contemporary art is embezzled and inherit the theory of postmodernism,many works of images are still using past or current images,it uses deconstruction to break up and reconstruct the original image,it reconstructed the meaning of the work and make it to be different.In fact,the pursuit of image meaning does affect human perceptions in current image world.And,the uncertainty and extensibility of the work’s meaning is also affect people how recognize and view contemporary works of art and the meaning of pursuit.The content of this thesis is divided into four chapters,with the meaning extension of image appropriation as the core research object,this paper analyzes the phenomenon of image appropriation in the context of contemporary art.It verifies the extension and difference in the meaning of the images produced by the appropriation in the image era.The first chapter starts with the image and discusses the meaning and meaning of the image based on the relationship between image and language.The second chapter express the background of image appropriation in contemporary art and the deconstruction and reconstruction of image meaning.The third chapter takes the " Delay and difference" theory as the path,it uses the case of the contemporary art image to appropriate the case to illustrate the meaning of the image.The fourth chapter discusses the influence of the difference of image meaning on contemporary art works and meaning.
