The purpose of this study is to analyze and study how to cultivate and improve students' key competencies in senior high school English teaching.The purpose of this study is to analyze and study how to cultivate and improve students' key competencies in senior high school English teaching.Based on the discussion and curriculum reform of reading teaching in a senior high school in Yanbian Prefecture,this study takes four high-quality reading classes of four teachers as examples,and uses case analysis,classroom observation and interview to analyze the teaching of two trial classes and one demonstration class.1)For the same reading text,how do four teachers design four different themes of reading teaching?Does the teaching design point to the cultivation and improvement of core competence of English subjects?2)What is the development process of from two trial classes to shaping a open class?3)What is the follow-up effect on the actual class teaching after the open class?This study mainly collects data from observation scale and interview.Among them,the Classroom Observation Scale was used to conduct descriptive statistical analysis such as mean and standard deviation with SPSS19.0 statistical software.At the same time,supplemented by the interview results,the following conclusions are finally drawn:1)From the perspective of teaching design,four teachers' reading design embodies the cultivation of students' key competencies from five aspects:teaching background,teaching objectives,teaching difficulties,teaching process and teaching evaluation.It mainly embodies the cultivation and promotion of the four elements of students' key competencies in the teaching process,and mainly focuses on the cultivation of students' language ability;2)From the classroom observation,after two trail classes and one open class,the four teachers have obviously improved the cultivation of the four elements of students' key competencies.The emphasis is on the cultivation of language ability.However,the cultivation of cultural awareness and thinking quality still need improvement;3)From the impact on the actual teaching,four teachers will pay more attention to the cultivation of students' key competencies in the teaching design after the teaching of open classes.Guiding students to conduct discourse analysis from various perspectives and adopting different types of learning practice activities can enhance the cultivation of students' language ability and learning ability.In teaching,more attention will be paid to the cultivation of students'cultural awareness and thinking quality,providing students with a variety of learning resources,while broadening their knowledge.Four high-quality open classes are aimed at cultivating students,key competencies in English subjects such as language ability,cultural awareness,thinking quality and learning ability in teaching design and classroom teaching.In the process of revision,the common problems in reading teaching in senior high schools are gradually improved.Based on the above results,this study summarizes the following suggestions for reading teaching based on English key competencies:1)Warming up:The main purpose of this subject reading course is to guide students to understand the background knowledge and vocabulary of the text,pave the way for the later reading part,and help students clear up the obstacles of background knowledge and vocabulary.Teachers should integrate topic vocabulary into topic context by combining the theme context of the text;2)Reading for understanding:This reading course adopts the integrated teaching method of theme-oriented,text-based and activity-oriented.It designs multi-level teaching activities in the three parts of teaching:fast reading,close reading and interview.Teachers should assign different levels of tasks so as to take into account the individual differences;3)Reading for appreciating:The reading course of this subject needs to design teaching links according to the characteristics of students' language development.Through the interpretation of the text structure,help students understand the structure and stylistic characteristics of the article,guide students to appreciate the text,and finally internalize into their own language.It is suggested that teachers should guide students to conduct discourse analysis from various perspectives and pay attention to students' language output;4)This lesson is language point teaching,which can not be separated from the text to explain the meaning and function of words,teachers should teach the meaning of words in the context of the text,focusing on cultivating students' awareness of lexical chunks.Teachers should guide students to observe,analyze and summarize the information contained in key words by themselves,and guide students to use the vocabulary they have learned initially in situations.The promotion of the four elements of key competences is not independent of each other.The activities designed are not only focused on improving a certain literacy,but also integrate the promotion of multiple competence into one activity,which influences each other and complements each other.
