A Study On The Syntactic And Semantic Analysis Of The Structure Of “N_[+body]V”and “VN_[+body] ” Based On The Valency Theory

This paper describes and analyzes the argument structure of“N_[+body]”and“V”based on valency theory.In addition,by taking CLL Corpus as reference and taking the compound as central object,this paper analyzes basic syntactical structure of the“N_[+body]V”and“VN_[+body]”structure and its modification for the argument,and explores the restrictive function the semantic structure of the structure exerted on the syntactical function,attempting to provide new directions for compound study.This paper is divided into six parts.Chapter 1 is a literature review of studies on compounds and“V”and it points out the achievements as well as limitations of former studies.Chapter 2 explains the source of the corpus and the principles of choosing corpus.And it describes the attribute of valency and the identification of“V”and the“valency”of the structure.Chapter 3 studies the argument structure and grammatic features of the“N_[+body]V”.It concentrates on the argument structure of“V”and the thematic role played by“N_[+body]”,and based on this aspect,the author discusses the argument structure of“N_[+body]V”and explores the restrictive function of semantic structure on the syntactical function.Chapter 4 studies the argument structure and grammatic features of“VN_[+body]”,and the study is similar to that in Chapter 3.Chapter 5 concludes the syntactical restriction on the structure of“N_[+body]”in“N_[+body]V”and“VN_[+body]”with the“N_[+body]”playing as different argument roles.Chapter 6 is a conclusion of this paper and it points out the achievements as well as limitations of this study.
