When the Italian madrigal appeared in Britain in the 16th century, the native composers began to make more thorough localization in order to solve the problem of inconsistency between English pronunciation and the original tune. The composers who participated in the composition of English madrigal,as well as the relevant personnel involved in the translation and publication, were called"English Madrigal School".They made English madrigal songs widely spread among the middle class with the help of advanced printing skills.According to the publication of English madrigal and previous research results, scholars divided the English madrigal composition into early, middle and late stages according to its own development. The representative composers were,William Byrd(1543-1623),Thomas Morley(1557-1602),Thomas Weelkes(1575-1623),John Wilbye(1574-1638),Orlando Gibbons(1583-1625),and John Ward(1533-1625).-1640)in that order. The research object of this paper is the English madrigal, focusing on the historical context of English madrigal, and the evolution of style in its early, middle and late development. As one of the spread branches of the 16th century Italian madrigal, the English madrigal has its own development and breakthrough while continuing the Italian tradition.the English madrigalists also showed different creative styles in different periods of development. This paper aims to further explore relevant issues through contextual investigation and ontology analysis. The first chapter is to sort out and summarize the history and cultural context of the English madrigal, aiming at the historical evolution of the overall cultural atmosphere of the Renaissance, the British intellectual climate, the madrigal theme, the development of the madrigal genre. In the progressive relationship of art,the successive progressive relationship is deeply analyzed. Finally,it is settled in the English idyllic, that is,the original introduction of this theme into the UK,paving the way for the ontology analysis of the English pastoral in the second chapter. As a representative secular vocal genre of the Renaissance, the emergence, development and dissemination of madrigal are extensive and in-depth.The first section begins with an overview of the composition of secular songs in the Renaissance.Due to the influence of humanism, compared with the Middle Ages, the secular music of this period reached an unprecedented peak. Then examine the development of Italian madrigal in the 16th century, and several secular vocal genres similar to and parallel to the English madrigal, and discuss their differences from the detailed structural form comparison. These genre also appeared in the title of the British madrigal album published at the time,so the morphological comparison before entering the ontology analysis is extremely critical. The second section is a general summary of the British intellectual climate during the Renaissance.Due to the development of politics, science and technology, the British society presented different appearances in this period, which in turn affected the artistic composition and life of the people. To examine the literary and artistic composition atmosphere at that time, and on this basis, thinks about the connection between English literature, drama and music in the Renaissance, and explores some potential connection. The third quarter is based on the introduction of the Italian madrigal in the 16th century. When the English madrigal published its first album, the 16th century Italian madrigal has developed for forty years, the third stage(1580-1620)centered on Rome,Mantua and Ferrara. The second chapter is a study of the 16th century English madrigal composition which aimed to summarize the publication of the 16th century English madrigal, and then analyze the representatives of Morley,Weelkes and Gibbons and related composers in detail.Summarizing the characteristics of English pastoral songs of different stages, and grasping the creative context. The third chapter is based on the first two chapters, and deeply explores and sorts out the evolution of English madrigal style. In the second section,it mainly discuss the characteristics of the English madrigal-the reference to the elements of dance music and the tendency of instrumentalization.Since 1600,many English madrigal collections have been marked on the topic "Apt of Vyols and Voyces",and many madrigal composers themselves are good at instrumental creation. It can be seen that when the English madrigal development reached the late stage,it was already one of the hubs of vocal works and instrumental works. The third section deals with the relationship between music and poetry.
