Motherhood is a unique form of identity for women.Feminists think that women's subjectivity can be established by striving for maternal autonomy,and it is the correct direction that feminists should take to.In this article,i will try to review the discussion on motherhood,and analysis its origin and new development in feminist theory.At length,the analysis reveals that patriarchal culture covers mother's existence,in which mother's subjectivity is marginalized and objectified.At the same time,it comes to the conclusion that improving mother's subjective is based on the deconstruction of traditional motherhood,the construction of new motherhood,and the reconstruction of mother-daughter relationship.In the introduction part,I reorganize the research of motherhood before feminism theory,and on this basis,carried out the study of motherhood in feminism theory.The main part of the article is the focus of the research,which is based on the French feminist theorists represented by Beauvoir,Kristeva,Irigery and Cixous and the American feminist theorist represented by Butler.Through the analysis of these theories,the paper intends to show the changes of the research on motherhood in different periods.Finally,through the analysis of the images of mothers in western literature,this paper focuses on revealing the different characteristics of the image of mother in male or female writer's works,so as to verify the Influence of writer's gender on writing.
