The Yue Folk's Song is the earliest translation work in China.It is a song that is significant in Chinses history and became the origin of the Songs of Chu.According to Shuo Yuan(Garden of Anecdotes)by Liu Xiang,the song,which was written in the Spring and Autumn period,was sung to E Jun Zi Xi,brother of the king of Chu,by one man from Yue.Its lyrics belong to the Songs of Chu,translated from the version in Yue language and then were added piano accompaniment by Liu Qingqu,Deng Yao and Bai Dong.The essay analyzed the artistic characteristics and singing treatment of The Yue Folk's Song in order to understand it in more thorough ways.The author,first,started with a song overview to state the creation background and the basic understanding;second,analyzed its artistic characteristics in the perspectives of lyrics characteristics,tune characteristics and piano accompaniment;last,treated the work in the aspects of pronunciation,tone as well as emotion by combining the author's singing experiences.Through analyzing the song,the author could better perform it and let more vocal music enthusiasts pay more attention to and understand this kind of very special archaic music.
